Halloween

We had a blast this year during Rose's first Halloween. Early in the week, we visited Clark's grandparents so they could see Rose in her strawberry suit. They were amazed at her new crawling skills and loved watching her play. Rose was a big flirt that day.
Rose eventually discovered her first candy bowl. She must take after her Mama because she went straight for the good stuff...chocolate.After chewing on a wrapped tootsie roll for a while, I finally caved and let her try the real thing. It was a sticky mess but well worth it! On the real Halloween, we went to the Llanfair neighborhood party at the park. It was lots of fun and the kiddos were so cute in their costumes. Rose and Jay rode in the wagon.

After the party, we went to AnnLee's house where she had a little get together before trick or treating. By that time, Rose was pooped and we had to take her home. She was fast asleep in the car by 6:30! Hopefully we will be able to trick or treat next year. She will love it :)

9 Months

Rose turned 9 months on the 12th. This has been such a fun month and I feel like Rose has learned so much!
She loves table food and is quickly getting tired of baby food. She has been eating toast, cheese toast, waffles, mandarin oranges, strawberries, grapes, peaches, mango, banana, pear, peaches, peas, green beans, steamed squash and carrots, vienna sausage, cheese, cheerios, puffs, yogurt, and she even tried lasagna (which she looooved!)
I bought her a little play set of food that came in a mini shopping basket and that is by far her favorite toy right now. It keeps her occupied for what seems like hours on end!

Rose crawls a little bit. She scoots a lot and gets around her little play area pretty well. She's starting to show interest in pulling up and can pull up on her knees easily. She really likes her activity table toys that allow her to pull up. A few weeks ago she figured out how to push herself up to a sitting position when on her tummy.
Rose is napping 1-2 times a day. She usually takes a decent morning or mid-day nap (1-2 hours), and sometimes takes an afternoon nap.
She has finally mastered sleeping through the night!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!! Around her 8 month birthday, Rose started sleeping 7-7. It was amazing! Now she goes to bed around 6:30 and will sleep until 7:00 or 7:30. I can't tell you what a full night's sleep does for this pregnant mama!
Rose still loves bathtime and she now bathes in the big girl bathtub. She creates a wave pool with all the splashing she does and she loves pulling the drain out!
Rose imitates me when I shake my head "no" and when I stick out my tongue. Its so much fun to see her face when she realizes she is copying me and I get so excited! Oh, she also learned how to click her tongue and she'll copy me when I do that too.
(She doesn't hold her own bottle...she was just practicing one day and I thought it was a cute pic)

She loves the mobile in her bed and she's learned to turn it on by herself. When I get her from a nap, she is usually sitting up in the crib, with her paci, watching her mobile or playing with her toys. Its really cute how she entertains herself when she wakes up. Sometimes she pulls it down into her crib so I might have to take it away :(

Rose has 4 teeth now. She just got the top middle teeth this week.

Ok, I think I'll spare you the rest of the details! I just wanted to write down all the new things Rose is doing at this very fun age!
Rose, Mommy and Daddy love you more than anything in the world and we think you are the most special thing on earth. We can't wait to see you grow and change during the rest of your first year!!

Vintage Baby

My Mom just sold her friend's mother's house. The friend's mother kept a box of baby clothes that I guess were worn back in the 50's by her daughter. She gave the box to Mom and Rose had a little fashion show the other day. How adorable is this sun suit??

I adore the big bow in the back!

It Works for Her

Doesn't this look like the most uncomfortable position ever??

Apparently, it works for Rose! She falls asleep like this very often. On occasion, I've tried to pull her little legs out from under her and lay her flat, but that just results in a very unhappy and awake baby. So today, I'll just let her stay put!

**Edited to add: Rose just woke up screaming after 10 minutes and won't go back to sleep. Looks like it doesn't work for her after all.

New Teeth

Just wanted to document for myself that Rose's top middle teeth have broken through. I was surprised to feel them today because they were much easier to handle than the first two! I guess the little miss is getting tougher :)

It's Ba-ack

Baby brain that is!!

After dropping my phone in the toilet this weekend and being stuck in Wal-Mart today (with a week's worth of groceries and a cranky, overly-tired, hungry baby) WITHOUT my wallett, I realize that it's back for sure.

I was just beginning to feel like I was getting it together but today I realize its all about to start again. Add 22 hours of morning sickness a day and you've know how I'm feeling these days. I'm trying to enjoy this pregnancy (because I hope it will be the last one for a while!) but it's hard when I feel so yucky. I just keep reminding myself what Clark said one night when I was complaining. He said, "just remember you are growing a beautiful little baby just like Rosebud right now." That makes it all worth it!

Lessons learned:
1. If you drop your phone in the potty or any other liquid, take it apart, bury all parts in a tupperware of white rice, let it chill for a few days, and voila...you have a rejuvenated, perfect, wonderful phone that never knew it went for a swim a few days before.

2. When getting gas on the way to Wal-Mart, always put your wallet back in your Mary Poppin's sized diaper bag so you have it when you are ready to pay for groceries you just spent close to an hour picking out. Otherwise, the sweet check out lady will kindly place your entire ticket on "suspension," send your beloved groceries to Customer Service and you will sweat like a mad woman with embarrasment as you venture home go get your wallet. You will be pleasantly surprised to find your wallet in the car and not at home where you thought it was. Remember, you got gas on the way to the store!!???

3. When baby falls asleep the minute she hits the carseat, take full advantage of the nap to take a long, hot, relaxing bubble bath with a wonderful book you just can't stop reading. Nevermind that it is 1:00 and you have tons of chores to do. Remember that you are pregnant and you deserve some time to relax and enjoy being pregnant!!
